Today started off bright and early, especially considering the fact that Sherlock tossed and turned all night and kept us both awake. We had to be at Paddington Station to catch our train to Cardiff by 8am and had to allow plenty of time to get there on the Tube. First order of business after picking up our tickets was to get me some more caffeine.
Then we boarded and were on our way to Wales!
The biggest reason to go to Wales, at least for us? THE DOCTOR WHO MUSEUM! Which Sherlock pretended to be not excited about, but trust me, he was bouncing round like a toddler at a birthday party.
Here's me with my ticket.
Don't blink! If you blink, you're dead.
EX-TER-MIN-ATE
Even in the Doctor Who museum, Sherlock is fiercely competitive at Yellow Car.
I thought this chap looked a bit ood.
Us with a full sized Tardis (one of the many ones there!)
...and one more scaled down to our size.
Really, the whole experience plus museum is just brilliant and we had a terrific time. We were hoping to find a large gift shop as well, but it wasn't quite as large as we'd anticipated. Still, Sherlock managed to find something there to catch his interest:
Then we wolfed down our picnic lunch and met up with our friend Faye from Twitter!
She helped us find all our old haunts here in town, like some of the pubs from my stag night!
We also stopped by the restaurant where Sherlock met up with creepy old Magnussen's (you remember...when he'd snuck out wearing his hospital gown).
Speaking of hospitals, here's where Sherlock went after he was shot (we prefer not to speak of it, really).
Also popped by the library where we found the cipher in The Blind Banker. Couldn't get in the tall stacks where we'd filmed, so we settled for a photo near some favorites in the crime section.
Also stopped by the museum from that episode. Doctor Who fans will recognise this location as well.
Finished our Cardiff tour pretty much where Sherlock and I cemented our friendship: the college in A Study in Pink where I saved him from taking that pill.
The sun came out long enough for us to take a quick breather after touring Cardiff on foot all day. Whew! A tiring, but great (if chilly) day! Thanks for taking us around, Faye!
And I've just enough time to post this before boarding our train back to London!
