Today was spent with our good friend, Janine! We met up with her at Baker Street and after initial hellos, set off on our day's adventure!
First stop, Regent's Park. Turned round for two seconds and here Sherlock had gone and climbed a bloody tree! I had to climb up after him, the great git!
And then to North Gower Street, better known as fake 221B! There were other fans there as well who took pictures of us (and not just those two American women who seem to be following us everywhere...), so that was fun.
We didn't have time to stop to eat right then, but we did pop into Speedy's to say hello and sit a spell.
The next stop proved a bit more difficult to find, but after we'd given up, we stumbled upon it anyway! Here's us at Tower 42, used in the episode The Blind Banker.
We next made our way to St. Bart's Hospital, where Sherlock thought it would be a really funny idea to reenact one of the worst moments of my entire existence. Bit not good, that.
After approximately thirty minutes of silence from me, punctuated only by the occasional sniff of rage, he finally realised I was definitely NOT amused, and he apologised. So. Enough about that.
Going back earlier in that same episode (The Reichenbach Fall), here's The Old Bailey, the exterior of which served as the building for Moriarty's trial. It's also one of the most famous courts in the world, and while the current building was finished in 1907, some type of court has existed on that exact site since the late 1500s!
We then went by the South Bank Skate Park, which was full of teenaged boys doing all sorts of stunts on their skateboards. You might recall that this was one of the sites of a cipher found by us in The Blind Banker episode.
And my favourite bit of London by far, pictures of which do not even come CLOSE to doing it justice: Big Ben. The detail and the sheer size of it combined just make it a truly inspiring sight to behold.
We had to say goodbye to Janine shortly after that, as she had to catch her flight back home to Berlin. We had so much fun with her, though, and hope she enjoyed her time with us as well!
As for us, we decided to walk again along the South Bank again, and I saw an advert at The National Theatre featuring a bloke who could be Mycroft's twin! Apparently this other bloke, Mark Gatiss, is an actor starring in a play running there. I wanted to check it out, but Sherlock was a firm no, so we settled on a photo.
As we approached Oxo Tower Wharf, we noticed the tide was low, so we decided to walk onto the foreshore. This is where the body of the gallery security guard was found in The Great Game.
Then we braved a pub to go in and order some takeaway fish and chips, and ate them outside on a bench while commuters made their way home from work and the sun began its lazy descent towards the horizon.
It was another sunny, wonderful, fantastic day. London, you are beyond brilliant.
More tomorrow!
